Antiviral compounds Dengue virus A sulfated polysaccharide called dl-galactan hybrid C2S-3 was extracted from the seaweed and shown to inhibit the replication of dengue virus. Herpes simplex virus Sulfated galactan crude extracts were extracted from the seaweed and shown to have antiherpetic properties.
