USE: Porphyra fucicola
REFERENCES: Humans are not the only animal species to use Porphyra species as food. They are browsed by many marine herbivores, including chitons, snails, limpets, crabs and sea urchins. As relatively abundant primary producers, Porphyra species are an important component of the food web in coastal ecosystems, and thus benefit humans in many ways, including supporting many of the other marine and shoreline foods that contribute to their diet.
