USE: Hydropuntia crassissima

REFERENCES: A hot drink called “Atole” is prepared with this alga, made from dried seaweed boiled water to release their phycocolloids; later added to evaporated milk and vanilla. Other local communities prepare this drink with coconut milk. G. crassissima is also used in the preparation of soups, puddings and other dishes. Is also a producer of agar.
