new name

Gracilaria parvispora

USE: Gracilaria chouae

REFERENCES: G. parvispora, or “Long Ogo”, was the most common seaweed in Hawaiian markets until the 1970s, sold as a fresh vegetable in Honolulu, usually mixed with raw fish. Due to its large popularity as an ingredient in many types of cuisine, a long time ago it was overharvested, and the government restricted its growth. Used in traditional medicine and human diet.
